You’ve probably heard so much about keeping your heart healthy that it’s hard to know what’s good advice and what’s completely bunk.
Today, I want to set the record straight.
I’m going to bust four of the biggest heart health myths — AND tell you the RIGHT way to keep your heart going…
So you can enjoy a long, active life!
I’m going to be honest. What I’m about to tell you should be common knowledge. But it’s not your fault. Your doctor should have taken the time to educate you about the most vital muscle in your body — your heart!
But here’s the thing…
Even if your doctor DID explain everything he or she knew about your heart, there would be a whole lot missing — or just plain wrong.
Because many doctors believe a lot of the myths I’m going to BUST today!
So let’s get into it.
Myth #1: Heart Disease is Not Preventable
I need to get this one out of the way first. Because sometimes you might feel like heart disease is coming for us all.
That’s what the medical establishment will have you believe, anyway. That everyone will have some problem with their hearts. Which is why the FDA has recommended statins even for healthy people!
But Here’s the Truth:
Most heart events are completely preventable.
In fact the Centers for Disease Control reported at least 200,000 deaths EVERY YEAR from heart attacks or strokes are completely preventable.
The CDC reported at least 200K deaths EVERY YEAR from heart attacks or strokes are preventable!Click To Tweet
And 60% of preventable deaths from heart attacks and strokes happen to people under 65.
It’s tragic that so many people die from something so preventable — and at such young ages.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. Heart disease is simple to stop! And I’m not talking about just taking whatever prescription drug your doctor gives you.
Which brings me to the next myth…
Myth #2: Statins Save Lives
This might be the biggest lie anyone has ever told you.
This myth is so widespread, 15 MILLION Americans are on statins. The medical mainstream seems to think statins are a cure-all for heart attacks and strokes.
But Here’s the Truth:
Heart disease has become an even bigger epidemic since statins hit the market.Click To Tweet
More than 500,000 people around the world will be diagnosed with Chronic Heart Failure this year. If statins really prevented heart disease, we’d all be in the clear!
Not only that, but 1,500 people THIS YEAR will die from a side-effect of statins called rhabdomyolysis, which leads to kidney failure — and death.
You might not think that’s a lot. You might agree with the pharmaceutical companies, then, that it’s an “acceptable loss.”
But the fact is statins offer no measurable advantage over lifestyle changes — and they come with more deadly side-effects than just rhabdomyolysis…
Including muscle weakness.
On the long list of statin side-effects, why would I single out muscle weakness?
Well, as you know, your heart is a muscle. It’s the hardest working muscle in your body. It never stops pumping, not even for a second. In very simple terms, that’s what a heart attack is — your heart stopping.
Needless to say, you don’t want to weaken your muscles if you’re trying to keep your heart going.
Now don’t get me wrong, statins do lower your cholesterol. But lowering everyone’s cholesterol hasn’t reduced the rate of heart disease.
Which is why the next myth is so absurd…
Myth #3: Cholesterol Causes Heart Disease
A few sketchy studies in the 1960s pinned cholesterol as the cause of heart disease. Those studies fed animals a ridiculous amount of cholesterol. The animals developed a higher risk for heart disease.
And scientists jumped to the conclusion that all cholesterol causes heart disease.
But Here’s the Truth:
The REAL risk for heart disease is small LDL (bad cholesterol) particles.
And the 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee even said, “Cholesterol is not a nutrient of concern for overconsumption.”
After DECADES of recommending Americans eat less than 300 mg of cholesterol per day, they’ve realized it has done NOTHING to save you from heart disease.
They admit, “Available evidence shows no appreciable relationship between consumption of dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol.”
And that’s not all. Your body NEEDS cholesterol to function! It makes up your cell membranes AND your brain. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for your cholesterol’s uses.
But it’s too late for a lot of people. The damage is done.
Most Americans believe a low-fat and low-cholesterol diet can prevent heart disease. And countless people have already suffered a heart event — or worse — because they followed this “advice.”
But I have good news.
It’s not too late for you to have a healthy heart — even if you’ve already had a heart attack or stroke!

I know what you’re thinking. It’s the next myth I’m going to bust.
Myth #4: You Have to be Miserable to Have a Healthy Heart
If you have a family history of heart disease — or you’ve already experienced a heart event — you’ve heard all about what you’re “supposed to do.” No eggs. No red meat. No fat. Spend a few hours on the treadmill every single day.
But Here’s the Truth:
You don’t have to go vegan to prevent heart disease.
You don’t have to kill yourself at the gym.
And you definitely don’t have to stop enjoying your life.
Small steps can go a long way in achieving your healthiest heart. In fact, there are exciting new developments I’ve found in my research — including how a special, all natural sugar can cut your recovery time after a heart event by 88%!Small steps can go a long way in achieving your healthiest heart.Click To Tweet
