Experts agree that more than 50% of all cancer is preventable.
Learning how to prevent cancer is critical to keeping the #2 killer in the world from claiming your life or the life of someone you love.
I’m going to talk more about what you can do but first…
Breaking News in Cancer Research
Brain cancer has always been a form of the disease that is difficult to treat and maintains a low survival rate. Over five years, a patient diagnosed with glioblastoma (brain cancer) has an estimated survival of approximately 5% and other cancer survival rates – such as that of the pancreas or lung – are even more dire.
Any improvement on treating aggressive cancers ultimately saves lives and should be cause for celebration. Unfortunately, conventional medicine has made few advances in new treatments in the past thirty years. While they’ve made improvements to earlier detection tools, for those who present with an advanced form of the disease, the prognosis is often still grim.

For the first time in three decades, researchers have made a major breakthrough in the search for effective cancer treatment that doesn’t involve another drug with major (and far-reaching) side effects. It’s truly fascinating information!
Scientists with the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill are converted skin cells into stem cells that hunt down and destroy glioblastoma cells in the brain.
The results of their study were published in Nature Communications. Technology that won the Nobel Prize is now being applied in the fight against cancer.
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy assistant professor, Shawn Hingtgen, PhD, stated, “Patients desperately need a better standard of care. Our work represents the newest evolution of the stem-cell technology. We wanted to find out if these induced neural stem cells would home in on cancer cells and whether they could be used to deliver a therapeutic agent. This is the first time this direct reprogramming technology has been used to treat cancer.”
The possibilities are absolutely incredible.
Typically, even if a surgeon removes the primary mass of a brain tumor, it’s nearly impossible to get the cancerous tentacles that are rooted deep in the brain and statistically cause a rebound in tumor growth. The average patient diagnosed with brain cancer will die within 18 months.
The UNC study takes a different approach that is similar to how immunotherapy works. It’s a more personalized approach to cancer treatment, using material from your body to improve the chance of success.
Taking skin cells (fibroblasts) from the patient, they are reprogrammed to become neural stem cells. In the lab mice, these cells had the ability to move through the brain and kill cancer cells that remained after the primary tumor was removed.
They raised the survival rate in the mice by 160-220% overall.
The researchers believe this method can be expanded upon, engineering the neural stem cells to produce a protein that targets the tumor itself. More research is required in the stability of the stem cells. As Hingtgen explained, “Without a structure [a supportive physical matrix], the stem cells wander off too quickly to do any good.”
In a separate study published in BioMaterials, Hingtgen and his team utilized surgical glue to triple the staying power of the stem cells within the surgical cavity.
Naturally, the mainstream application of this science will take years to prove, properly test on humans, and implement in common cancer treatment modalities. You need to know how to prevent cancer right now…today. #PreventionClick To Tweet
What Can You Do Now?
You need to know how to prevent cancer right now…today.
- Don’t smoke or use tobacco products.
- Maintain a healthy bodyweight.
- Lower or eliminate alcohol consumption.
- Eat to live with nutritious, whole foods (choose organic, non-GMO when possible).
- Stay active…even low impact exercise helps!
- Practice safe sun exposure (and use natural sunscreen).
- Be cautious of the products you use to clean your home.
- Question everything you put on or in your body (cosmetics, feminine hygiene, etc).
As important as knowing how to prevent cancer in the first place is knowing how to fight cancer if you (or someone you love) already has it.
